In response to COVID-19, CISA (the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) is urging those who’ve been sent home to work to take extra caution as they connect to their organization through VPN. Folks working remotely may lack the usual vigilance they bring with them to work, letting their guards down in the comfort of their home and making themselves vulnerable to cyber attack. Hackers count on such situations and are guaranteed to exploit them.

You and your company can prevent these opportunists from taking advantage by doing a few things: keeping VPN, devices, and all software updated and patched- expecting phishing emails, and being extra wary of suspicious looking communications- utilizing two-step authentication where possible- and trading in old passwords for newer, stronger ones. Now is certainly not the time to be taking risks with cybersecurity! Be watchful and aware, even if this all feels like an opportunity to relax.
